Scaling round 2: live performance telemetry, tougher write paths, and the first relational building blocks

    Infrastructure & reliability

Following June's infrastructure review, we re-audited the platform in depth and shipped the next round of scaling work: the platform now measures its own write-path health in real time and pages us on regressions, database mirror writes are batched and coalesced, payment and refund idempotency protections now also survive restarts via new relational tables, courier location handling got cheaper per GPS ping, and restarts during deploys no longer drop requests. Everything shipped behind kill-switch flags with tested rollback paths, and we proved the critical behaviors on a real Android device and with a new load-test harness.

A frictionless merchant account: set up your restaurant in any order, before you even confirm your email

    Merchant onboarding

We replaced the rigid step-by-step merchant sign-up with a friendly vertical setup menu. Open any section, fill it in, and save it - in whatever order suits you. Add your menu and products before your bank details, come back later for the rest, and pick up exactly where you left off. You can start (and log in) before confirming your email, while going live still needs our team's review. Everything works cleanly on a phone.

Merchant sign-up that never loses a lead: single-field capture, a full drafts view for our team, and a mobile-friendly opening-hours editor

    Merchant onboarding

We hardened how businesses join RA DELIVERY. A prospective partner's contact is now saved the moment they enter just an email OR just a phone - even if they never finish the form - so a lead is never lost. Our review team can now see every registration attempt, including partial ones, with the single next step for each. Romanian businesses of any legal form (SRL, PFA, and others) can register without being blocked by an unusual or mistyped company code, and the opening-hours editor no longer overflows on a phone.

A full feature-by-feature quality pass: the restaurant map is back, a paused store reopens on time, the checkout total always matches what you pay, and support gets safer

    Platform / Quality

We went through every part of the platform - the website, all four apps, and the staff tools - feature by feature, testing real and edge cases, and fixed what we found. The full restaurant map had gone blank for everyone because a routine web update dropped its map key; it is fixed and now shows all the restaurants again, and we added an automatic check so it can never silently go blank on a future update. A restaurant that pauses 'for an hour' now reopens by itself when the time is up instead of staying hidden until someone flips it back. On the website, if you add an extra item at checkout, the total you see now always matches what you are charged. Support and staff tools got several dead or misleading buttons fixed, and an internal audit file that should never have been public was removed and locked out. The courier tip stays zero by default everywhere.

Real support conversations in every app, a Google-Maps-style restaurant sheet on the full map, no more pre-selected tip, and a cleaner set of status messages

    Platform / Product

Contacting support used to just flash a message and create a ticket you could never read. Now every app - customer, courier, merchant and fleet - opens a real conversation: you write your problem, send it, read the support team's replies and come back to the thread later. The customer 'problem with my order' and 'order is late' buttons open that conversation pre-filled with the order and topic, and support staff got a proper console to reply, set status and priority. The tip is now always zero by default - never a pre-selected 5 lei - across the website and all apps. Status messages ('tracking updated', 'details saved', 'ticket created') were redesigned to a calm green notice that fades just above the bottom menu instead of a pink box in the middle of the screen. On the full map, tapping a restaurant now opens a Google-Maps-style card with its details and a one-tap add to cart, keeping you on the map. The location button became a clean compass that no longer overlaps the map controls.

Full edge-case QA: saved addresses that just work, a cleaner profile with submenus, order lifecycle and cash-on-delivery flows verified end to end, and every button inventoried

    Platform / Product

A deep quality wave across all four apps, the website and the backend. Saving a delivery address chosen on the map now closes the dialog, selects the new address immediately and keeps everything you typed if you hop to the map mid-form. The profile screen became a clean menu with focused sections instead of one long page. The full order lifecycle and cash-on-delivery flows - accept, reject, cancel, reassign, deliver, fail, collect - are now pinned by dozens of new automated tests, every button across customer, courier, merchant, fleet and admin surfaces was inventoried and exercised, and several subtle bugs found by the review were fixed before release.

Stay signed in between visits, a My location button that no longer covers the map zoom, and a security-hardened wave of fixes now on Google Play and the App Store

    Platform / Product

You no longer have to sign in every time you open any of the RA Delivery apps: your session now persists securely and is restored automatically on launch, backed by rotating, revocable tokens. The My location button was moved clear of the map zoom controls per direct feedback, the website now keeps your cart across sign-in and never resurrects a paid cart, and a deep automated review plus an adversarial security pass fixed a set of issues across all four apps, the website, and the backend. New app versions are on Google Play and the App Store.

Choose your delivery spot straight on the map like in ride apps, a My location button on every map, self-recovering maps, and a wave of reliability fixes now on Google Play and the App Store

    Platform / Product

The RA Delivery customer app now lets you pick your exact delivery spot directly on the full map, the way ride apps do: tap the map or the new button, pan the map under a fixed pin, and confirm with one tap. Every map gained a My location button, and maps now recover by themselves with a retry instead of getting stuck if Google Maps has a hiccup. A deep automated quality sweep also fixed a set of reliability issues across all four apps and the website. New app versions were submitted to Google Play and the App Store.

Easier cart and delivery-address selection, a map pin for choosing where to deliver, restaurant icons, Romanian text polish, merchant menu tools, and more app updates submitted to Google Play

    Platform / Product

A follow-up round of improvements to the RA Delivery apps and website: choosing and changing your delivery address in the app is smoother, the cart is always one tap away, the website now lets you drop a pin on a map to set exactly where you want your order delivered, restaurants show clearer icons, Romanian wording was corrected across several pages, and restaurant partners gained proper menu-management tools. Updated Android apps were submitted to Google Play, and an iOS update is being prepared.

Store release and product systems milestone: app updates shipped to Google Play, pricing, dispatch, merchant tools, fleet analytics and finance dashboard

    Platform / Release

All four RA Delivery Android apps were rebuilt with the latest map, tracking and checkout fixes and submitted to Google Play production the same day. The iOS pipeline that previously produced broken maps now provably embeds the map configuration, verified on a real iPhone in the cloud. Behind the scenes, the platform gained a server-side price quote for carts, a smarter courier-assignment engine ready behind a switch, fleet working-time analytics, a finance overview for operations, and the foundation for serving more countries.

    Platform / Reliability

Feature quality audit and mobile UX remediation across the whole platform

    Platform / Quality

A full-platform quality audit (18 specialized reviewers plus an adversarial council) traced why some fixes kept regressing, then shipped the corrections: the Android apps' outdated loading screen is gone, each app finally has its own launcher icon, app launch is seamless, the card-payment pipeline was made correct end to end, and production data now has hard guardrails against test tooling. Everything was verified on a real Android 15 device and across 36 browser/viewport combinations.

Scaling RA Delivery for more cities and countries: an infrastructure and reliability review

    Platform / Engineering

We ran a deep engineering review of how RA Delivery needs to evolve to serve more Romanian cities, then more countries, and to carry far more orders per minute. The platform was examined end to end - the four mobile apps and the web surface, the infrastructure it runs on, how it scales, how it stays up, how it behaves under crashes, and how ready it is for new cities and new countries. To pressure-test the conclusions, the review combined a large internal automated audit with an independent panel of several other leading AI models, and they all converged on the same priorities and the same cautions. The headline is reassuring: the pilot is stable and well built today, and the changes ahead are a planned, staged evolution rather than a rescue. This entry shares that plan in plain language: what is already strong, what we are investing in next, and the order we will do it in to keep the service fast and dependable while it grows.

Behind the scenes: how we safely switched on six features, investigated every test failure, and hardened the system

    Engineering / Quality

A technical companion to the feature announcement. We switched on six already-built features one tier at a time - read-only views first, then additive merchant tools, then the one feature that writes data (self-service cancellation) last - checking the live system was healthy after every step and confirming that each role can only see what it should. Every claim was verified against the live system, including the customer cancellation tested end to end on a real phone. We then investigated each remaining automated browser-test failure at the browser level and proved, with evidence, that none were customer-facing bugs: one was a genuine test bug (a cookie banner overlapping a button), one was a real but harmless console-logging glitch in the operator console (now fixed), and the rest were test-timing or test-environment issues. Two independent automated reviewers checked the work and found no critical or high-risk issues. The code shipped through our standard gated pipeline - secret scan, linting, type-checking, the full automated test suite (nearly a thousand tests), and a production build - with an automatic health check and one-switch rollback.

Self-service order cancellation, merchant snooze and running-late tools, a merchant sales summary and courier cash view, all switched on

    Customers / Merchants / Couriers

We turned on six features that were already built and waiting behind safety switches. Customers can now cancel an order themselves while it is still early (before the restaurant starts preparing it), straight from the app. Merchants can temporarily mark an item as unavailable for a set number of minutes - it comes back on its own when the time is up - and can flag an order as running late, which shows the customer a clear 'running late' notice in their tracking without changing the delivery time estimate. Merchants also get a read-only sales summary (total sales, average order, cash-versus-card split, top items) and couriers get a read-only view of cash collected, handed in and still outstanding. Operators get a single read-only screen showing which features are on. Each one is fully reversible with a single switch, and none of them touch how payments work.

Email confirmation switched on, plus a transparency tool that shows why a courier was chosen for a delivery

    Operations / Trust

We turned on email confirmation for new partner and fleet sign-ups, so a new partner now receives a one-time secure link to confirm their address - tested end to end on our own mailbox. We also added a behind-the-scenes scoring tool that, for every delivery, records which courier our system would pick using a richer set of signals (reliability, fairness, distance, cash-handling limits and more) and compares it with the courier actually offered the job. Dispatchers can now see why a courier was chosen and why others were not. This runs in observe-only mode: it changes nothing about how deliveries are assigned today, it only makes the decision transparent and prepares a safer future upgrade.

Phone-first sign-up, an email-confirmation step for new partners, extra protection on mailbox creation, and an App Store status check

    Onboarding / Trust

We made the partner and fleet sign-up forms ask for the phone number first, added an optional email-confirmation step that lets a new partner confirm their address by clicking a secure one-time link, and required an extra identity re-check before an administrator can create a company mailbox. We also confirmed the customer app is live on the App Store and the three partner apps are in review with valid builds. Sensitive features ship switched off until they are explicitly turned on.

A verify-then-fix production quality pass on sign-up, orders, and the operator console

    Quality / Reliability

We ran a careful production quality pass that first re-verified earlier claims with real browser and API tests, then fixed what was confirmed. The full partner and fleet sign-up forms submit correctly, a cash-on-delivery order goes all the way from placement to delivery with the drop-off PIN check, and the operator console's screens work without errors. We also removed real-looking example data from the sign-up form and added a record of which terms version a partner accepted.

Operator console: per-courier and per-fleet performance drilldowns, full support conversations, and one-click access to the finance, dispatch and operations views

    Operator tooling

The internal operator console now lets an authorized administrator open a full performance drilldown for any individual courier or any fleet - orders over time, delivery and online times, completion and cancellation, cash held by the courier, and honest empty states when there is no data yet. Support tickets can be opened to read the whole conversation with who said what and when. We also added direct links from the console to the existing finance, dispatch and operations views, and a link to webmail. Everything stays behind administrator sign-in.
